Which Nationalities Need a Visa for Indonesia?

Citizens of all ASEAN member countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam) and Timor-Leste may enter Indonesia without a visa for up to 30 days. This privilege is valid only for tourism, business meetings, transit, goods procurement, or government purposes.

Visa Requirements for Other Nationalities

All other nationalities must secure a visa for entry. The required visa type is determined by nationality. Depending on their passport, applicants may be eligible for an online e-VOA (Electronic Visa on Arrival) or a Visitor Visa. Some nationalities are restricted to applying only for the Visitor Visa.       Documents Needed for the Indonesian Online Visa

      I. Additional Requirements for Visitor Visa (C1-Tourist 60 days)

      • Validity: Must have a minimum validity of six (6) months from the intended date of entry into Indonesia.
      • Consistency: The same passport must be used for both the visa application and for travel.

      • Type: Full color (black and white photos are not accepted).
      • Resolution: Minimum of 400x600 pixels.
      • Background: Plain white or off-white.
      • Expression: Neutral, with eyes open and mouth closed.
      • Head Coverings: Permitted only for documented religious reasons and must not obscure the face.

      What Are the Entry Requirements for Indonesia?

      I. Mandatory Entry Documents & Formalities

      Upon arrival in Indonesia, all international travelers are required to present the following documents to immigration officials:

      • Valid Passport: Must meet the validity requirements detailed below.
      • Approved Indonesian Visa: Required for all travelers unless they are citizens of a visa-exempt country.
      • Electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD): A completed QR code from the e-CD must be presented. This declaration is mandatory for all travelers, including children.
      • Proof of Onward/Return Travel: Travelers may be required to show a confirmed ticket for travel out of Indonesia.

      For individuals traveling to the island of Bali for tourism purposes, a mandatory, one-time tourist levy must be paid. This policy is designed to fund the protection of Bali's environment and culture, as well as to improve local infrastructure under a sustainable tourism scheme.

      IV. Travel Insurance Recommendation

      While not a mandatory requirement for entry, obtaining comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended. An adequate policy should provide coverage for:

      • Loss or damage of baggage
      • Trip cancellation or interruption
